After looking at the 11th grade ELA standards, I found many that relied on digital usage standards. Many objectives consisted of completing digital presentations on a book or comparisons of experiments. One standard reflected on students reading Wiesel's "Night", and researching the history of genocide in conjuction with the reading. This digital standard tests students' ability to complete online research and understand how to translate that information in the context of the book. I think that I am prepared to implement this standard based on my skill set, with a different book. I have not read "Night", but if I found a book that was to standards that I was familiar with, having students research and present information based on the reading could be a great analysis project. I think it is great that these digital standards can prepare high schoolers how to use technology more effectively. A resource that seems very helpful in my teaching could be an inform...

I leaned a lot about Copyright in the classroom that will be helpful in developing my own instructional methods. One example will be explaining Copyright to my future students as intellectual property. Understanding intellectual property will be helpful when they complete their own projects because they will understand their own rights to their work and how important it is to give credit to other works. A good way to explain to kids the concept of Copyright in the classroom is similar to that of a bibliograhy. Teaching kids about Copyright also disuades them from plagiarizing, as we emphasize the importance of knowing how to reference others without stealing intellectual property. Academic dishonesty is a greatly faced issue in today's educational setting. Each day, we hear more and more about the usage of AI as a method of students getting their assignments done. In order to combat this dishonest issue in the classroom in my future teaching, I would definitely use anti-cheating de...

Until college, my word processing software of choice was always Microsoft Word. It was easily accessible on my computer and it was often the recommended software by my teachers. When I started at FSU, I saw that most people often used Google Docs for their assignments. I tried it, and began to see the benefits of using Google over Microsoft. I like Google Docs better because I have felt there is more consistency with the documents automatically saving. I have lost progress with my Microsoft documents because they did not automatically save for me. Secondly, I love that I can access the Google Docs app on my phone, working on assignments from my computer then to my phone with ease. This has saved me on multiple occassions from turning in something late, since I had another device to work on the assignment when technology fails. Of the ISTE standards, the one that stood out to me the most was the standard for being a learner. This is important because as teachers and educators, we should...

In this class, I hope to learn how to use my technological resources more effectively. I am not the most technology savvy person, and have yet to utilize many of the applications and websites discussed in the course's overview. For example, I have never used Padlet before this class and have used Canva for only an assignment or two in the past. A goal of mine is to become more familiar with different websites and programs so I can better understand their usefulness. I do not want to struggle to use web applications that could be beneficial to my learning. This course will allow me to expand my technological horizons and help pass on my newfound educational technology knowledge as I use these resources in my future teaching methods. My experience in using technology in an educational setting is quite basic. When working on a class project, such as making a presentation or writing an essay, I prefer to use Microsoft PowerPoint or Google Docs. Although other websites and programs will...
