Distance learning in K-12 is something I did not experience personally until my senior year of high school. I was taking online dual-enrollment classes and it was my first distance learning experience. A technology I used for the first time was Zoom, and it made me realize how quickly we can adapt to distance learning. Zoom was an important feature for communication, PowerPoint for instruction, and Canvas to structure the class. These were effective to bridge the educational gaps when distance learning was relevant during the pandemic, and are useful in our regular structure too. A technology I have always wanted to use that is useful in distance learning is Jamboard. This platform allows students to collaborate on ideas virtually. It could be a great way to structure ideas and seems fun and engaging.

Open educational resources are teaching resources that are open-domain and accessible to all educators and students. Some examples are Creative Commons and Khan Academy, which provide media and educational tools for free. Open educational resources are quite beneficial to students because they make resources affordable and accessible to students who may typically lack the opportunity for online resources. Professor Lund of Williston State College talks about the importance of these open resources and advocates for ways to better our online teaching structure. These sites hold valuable material that can teach students and professors. Educators like Lund like OERs to support and personalize students' learning experiences.

The PowerPoint for Information Dissemination was a nice refresher to using PowerPoint. It has been a while since I needed to voiceover for a presentation, so the assignment tested my speaking skills and my design skills. Referring to our design principles, I took a more intricate approach to building my slides. I like that the voiceover forced me to have a clear goal in mind, presenting each topic with the intention of connecting points from different slides. I honestly did not like how short I had to keep my presentation. I feel that I wanted to talk a lot more, but this was a part of the challenge of the assignment. It is important to be concise with my words, so that is something I want to improve on in the next presentation assignment.

In this class, I hope to learn how to use my technological resources more effectively. I am not the most technology savvy person, and have yet to utilize many of the applications and websites discussed in the course's overview. For example, I have never used Padlet before this class and have used Canva for only an assignment or two in the past. A goal of mine is to become more familiar with different websites and programs so I can better understand their usefulness. I do not want to struggle to use web applications that could be beneficial to my learning. This course will allow me to expand my technological horizons and help pass on my newfound educational technology knowledge as I use these resources in my future teaching methods. My experience in using technology in an educational setting is quite basic. When working on a class project, such as making a presentation or writing an essay, I prefer to use Microsoft PowerPoint or Google Docs. Although other websites and programs will...

After looking at the 11th grade ELA standards, I found many that relied on digital usage standards. Many objectives consisted of completing digital presentations on a book or comparisons of experiments. One standard reflected on students reading Wiesel's "Night", and researching the history of genocide in conjuction with the reading. This digital standard tests students' ability to complete online research and understand how to translate that information in the context of the book. I think that I am prepared to implement this standard based on my skill set, with a different book. I have not read "Night", but if I found a book that was to standards that I was familiar with, having students research and present information based on the reading could be a great analysis project. I think it is great that these digital standards can prepare high schoolers how to use technology more effectively. A resource that seems very helpful in my teaching could be an inform...

I leaned a lot about Copyright in the classroom that will be helpful in developing my own instructional methods. One example will be explaining Copyright to my future students as intellectual property. Understanding intellectual property will be helpful when they complete their own projects because they will understand their own rights to their work and how important it is to give credit to other works. A good way to explain to kids the concept of Copyright in the classroom is similar to that of a bibliograhy. Teaching kids about Copyright also disuades them from plagiarizing, as we emphasize the importance of knowing how to reference others without stealing intellectual property. Academic dishonesty is a greatly faced issue in today's educational setting. Each day, we hear more and more about the usage of AI as a method of students getting their assignments done. In order to combat this dishonest issue in the classroom in my future teaching, I would definitely use anti-cheating de...
